KFE is having a group Outing to the New York Renaissance Faire on Sunday August 3, 2008 starting at 10 AM. This is a delightful day at Sterling Forest in Tuxedo Park, NY **where fantasy rules**. This event is open to everyone.
You should wear renaissance style clothes/medieval or mild fetish wear. This event is OK to bring your kids. You will be on your own for the day. Directions are available at the Faire website at http://www.renfair.com/NY/general/maptofaire.php You can get a discount by buying your tickets in advance online at: http://www.renfair.com/NY/tickets/advancetix.php We will not be collecting money for this event; you can get the advance online ticket discount, or you can pay the regular price $20 at the door when you go. We go to the Renaissance Faire every year and have a blast. I especially enjoy the Birds of Prey - watching the hawks and falcons, and I also like the Chaucers Mead. Watching the glassblowers is also fascinating, and we especially enjoy the medieval tortures museum (Palace of Pain). I like to try out as many of the psychic readers as possible, and my daughter likes the henna tattoos (lasts for 6 weeks) and face painting. Come to the KFE Wednesday Night Munch on August 6, 2008 at the Lone Star steakhouse restaurant on Route 22 (center island) in Bridgewater. The Munch starts at 7 PM in the Alamo Room at the Lone Star and is strictly a meet-and-greet. No play party after. Separate checks; street attire required. RSVP requested to knot4every1@aol.com by August 5 so we may give the restaurant an accurate head count.
The Bridgewater LoneStar is located at 970 Route 22 in the center island in Bridgewater. Going west on Route 22, about 1 mile before the restaurant you will see a diner on the left side. You will go under an overpass. Make sure you are in the left lane; make a left into the parking lot. Going east on Route 22, stay in the left lane; you will see a Dunkin Donuts and an Ace Hardware. We have been having such fun at the KFE North Munch that we decided to have a KFE North BBQ-and-play-party.
The BBQ will be held on Saturday August 9 in Garfield, NJ from 1 PM to 8 PM. We have room for 10 more people (the limit is 20). Attendees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If we fill up, I will keep a waiting list. Glenn, our BBQ host, will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, plates, cups, and utensils. Attendees - please bring salads, side dishes, and bring your own beverages. Also please bring play equipment, such as spanking benches or other portable dungeon furniture. There is a 2-car garage where equipment can be placed for play stations, and there is a basement dungeon as well. The space is tight, and parking is tight as well. There is no charge to attend the BBQ. Please RSVP to knot4every1@aol.com by August 1. Let me know how many are coming, and provide the email address for each attendee. KFE has added a third monthly Munch to serve our members in the Northern part of New Jersey.
The KFE North Munch will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at 7 PM and is located at The Elmwood Barn, 435 River Drive, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407, restaurant phone: 201-797-6900. It is easy to get to from Route 80. The restaurant has a private room that will accommodate the Munch. As always, street attire is required, there is no play party after, and there will be separate checks. Your munch hostess will be the lovely Jenn. The Floating World is happening in Edison, NJ August 15-17.
Just like last year, to insure that there will be a large diversity of classes and parties, this event will be run not by one group, but by a coalition of groups. KFE is one of the participating groups. Each group will bring its own experts and interests, to make for a very unusual event, indeed. To reflect the diversity of the event, they are calling it *The Floating World* Site URL: http://www.thefloatingworld.org/ The location is very accessible by train, plane and automobile. There will also be vendors and special events. Classes in multiple tracks go on until midnight each night in separate classrooms. The dungeon is HUGE... Shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes between the convention center and the nearby hotels.
